/ What hours can I schedule my shoot?
Standard shoot hours are 8am-7pm, 7 days a week. We are happy to accommodate any other hours at the current off-hours rate schedule. Our rates are the same for both weekday and weekend bookings.
/ Do you offer hourly-rate bookings?
Our minimum rate is a half day in Studio B and a full day in Studio A. However, if your date is short-notice and you need less time we will do our best to work with you. Just hit us up!
/ Do you have an on-site equipment room?
We have some equipment on-site including Profoto Acute packs and heads, Profoto modifiers, and basic grip, and we are expanding all the time. Just hit us up for our most up to date in-house EQ list. For any equipment that we don't have in-house, we have arrangements with some of the best rental houses in the city to provide it. We are happy to source anything you need and handle delivery & pickup at a competitive price, hassle-free.
/ Do you include any equipment with studio bookings?
Indeed, we do. We include a basic grip & production package in all studio bookings that includes c-stands, v-flats, apple boxes, sandbags, garment racks, steamer, and folding tables. Please inquire for specifics to make sure your needs are met.
/ What is your outside equipment policy?
You are welcome to supply your own personal equipment but all rental equipment from outside vendors must be sourced through Brooklyn Grain, otherwise fees apply.
/ What is required to book a studio?
A confirmed reservation requires a signed rental agreement, photo ID, and valid credit card. A valid Certificate of Insurance is required for all bookings in Studio A. For bookings 5 or more days in advance a 50% deposit is required. For bookings less than 5 days in advance, payment in full is required.
/ What is your hold policy?
We are happy to supply holds on dates while you solidify your plans. Should we receive a challenge to your hold you will be given 24 hours to either confirm or release the date. Any date less than 7 days away requires a 50% deposit to continue to hold. Any date less than 5 days away requires full payment to continue to hold.
/ Do you require insurance?
A valid Certificate of Insurance is required for all bookings in Studio A and for any sub-rented equipment. As an alternative for equipment rental insurance we can place a hold on your credit card for the replacement value of the equipment.
/ How can I obtain insurance?
We can offer some suggestions, just email us.
/ Do you have an elevator?
There is a passenger elevator in the building that can also be used for freight. Its dimensions are as follows:
Doorway: 3'w x 7'h
Inside: 5'10"w x 3'10"d x 7'10"h
Inside Diagonal: 9'10"
/ How is parking in the area?
During the weekends it is very easy to park right in front of the building however weekdays can be difficult as it is a busy commercial area with alternate side cleaning regulations. It is all street parking (no lots or garages) and like anything else in the city, it is difficult but not impossible. The best chance of finding something close to the building is before 8am. If driving, definitely allow for extra time to find parking (20-30 min). Do not be tempted to park in the lot next to our building, they will tow you.
/ What is the best way to load in?
Straight through the front door and up the elevator to the third floor.
/ What is the largest light you can accommodate?
/ Are there any additional charges for usage of continuous lights?
Yes. Any usage of HMI or Tungsten lighting in a still photo production or motion video production is subject to an added electricity usage fee of $100.
/ Is there an on-site cafe?
We are happy to provide self-service coffee, tea, and water free of charge in our studios. For espresso & light snacks, the always awesome Champion Coffee is just 2 short blocks away.
/ Do you offer catering services?
Not directly, but we can recommend a lot of tasty options in the area.
/ How do I get to the studio?
The closest train station is the Greenpoint Avenue G stop. Exit using India Street and we are less than 10 minutes away on foot. We are also a 12 minute walk across the Pulaski Bridge from the Vernon Blvd - Jackson Av 7 train station.
/ How do I access the studio when there?
We are 302 on the buzzer. Give us a ring!
